ABOUT NISI BAMBÚ
Hello, I’m Georgia Eleftheriadou Karica — the founder behind NISI BAMBÚ.
I am Greek, born and raised in Panama, and later returned to Greece to complete my studies. I studied International Business at Deree, ACG, and I have worked in Barcelona in digital marketing and in Athens in human resources before following a more creative path.
That path led me to study pattern design and sewing at Athens Fashion Club, where I discovered a deeper connection to creation — turning ideas into something tangible, wearable, and alive.
My heart is deeply rooted in the Greek islands — especially Paros, where we run our family hotel, Yaleena Residences, in Dryos. It is also where NISI BAMBÚ first came to life physically, with our showroom inside the hotel.
How NISI BAMBÚ began
NISI BAMBÚ began as a swimwear brand, born between island summers and a desire to create timeless designs with a vibrant energy. Very early on, I was producing with a factory in Colombia, which I also visited them — a relationship I still deeply value today and hope to return to in the near future. However, as the brand evolved, I realised that time difference and distance made it difficult to maintain the level of control and consistency I wanted for what I was building.
So I shifted direction.
Not away from the vision — but closer to it.
The brand slowly transformed into something more intimate, more hands-on, more connected to process. Today, I work primarily with linen pieces, developed and shaped more directly by me in Paros.
But the real beginning of NISI BAMBÚ goes even further back.
NISI BAMBÚ began with my grandmother.
She had an effortless sense of style — not loud, not excessive, just intentional. Every piece she wore she had it made for her, shaped with care, and chosen with a deep appreciation for quality. Her wardrobe wasn’t seasonal or disposable. It was personal. It stayed with her.
When she passed away, I inherited some of her clothing. I started wearing them, adjusting them, bringing them into my own life. And something unexpected happened: people would stop me and ask where they were from. They felt current, even timeless. And her linen garments looked and felt better than ever.
That made me pause.
Because at the same time, I realised how disconnected I had become from clothing myself — surrounded by fast fashion, buying without understanding nor appreciating fabric, fit, or craftsmanship. I had never really learned how to recognise quality.
So I went back to the beginning.
I started working only with linen — a natural fabric that softens, evolves, and becomes more beautiful with time. I began creating pieces slowly, by hand, in Paros, with the same attention to detail I had seen in my grandmother’s world.
NISI BAMBÚ is built from that contrast: her way of dressing, and the way we consume clothing today.
It is an atelier of linen pieces designed to be worn on repeat, to live with you, and to become part of your life over time.
An open invitation
NISI BAMBÚ is still growing, still evolving, and deeply personal.
